Black magic: KTM’s carbon fibre X-Bow

This new sinister spec will compliment your Batman fancy dress outfit perfectly

Published: 10 Mar 2016

With its slatty insect-like face, the KTM X-Bow looks utterly mad at the best of times. But now the Austrian firm has made the carbon-heavy lightweight even more carbon-y. And menacing.

Not content with just a carbon tub, KTM has made the rest of the car out of carbon fibre too. That includes a complete carbon underfloor, wheel arches and the minimal amount of body.

Based off the GT – that’s the less pretty but more useable windscreen’d spec – adding a carbon cloak makes for a properly sinister spec.  The 2.0-litre turbo is still lifted from Audi, but has been tuned up to 320bhp and connected to a new quick-shift gearbox.

We haven’t been told how much weight is saved with the addition of carbon bits, but expect the 0-62mph sprint to be seen off in the low three seconds.

Officially dubbed the ‘Black Edition’, for your seventy-seven thousand British pounds you also get a new sticker set (yay! Stickers!), comfort seats, aluminum handbrake and new 18 and 19-inch BBS rims painted in, you guessed it, black.

Only five examples will be made, so if you need a car to go with your Batman fancy dress costume, give KTM a ring quick.
