What do you make of this electric Alfa Giulia touring car?
Romeo Ferraris unveils its contender for the inaugural PURE ETCR season
Remember the Hyundai Veloster N ETCR and the inventively named Cupra e-Racer? They’ve both been designed to compete in 2021’s inaugural season of electric touring racing, and now they’ve got a new rival.
This is the Alfa Romeo Giulia ETCR by Romeo Ferraris. The Milan-based team says it plans to bring a ‘touch of glamour’ to PURE ETCR when it kicks off next year, and who are we to argue, especially when it looks like this. What does everyone else reckon to the looks? It’s certainly... aggressive.
Touring car champ Jean-Karl Vernay will pilot the Giulia in the six-event schedule, with four of the rounds in Europe and two elsewhere.
Each car is similar in spec and must use the supplied 670bhp ETCR powertrain, which also happens to feature a Williams Advanced Engineering battery and a Magelec gearbox and inverters. They’ll be pretty rapid, then.
