What do you make of this carbon fibre bodykit for the VW ID. Buzz?

Happy EV hippy van to become carbon-clad bewinged thing…

Published: 16 Aug 2022

Norwegian manufacturer Zyrus Engineering has unveiled plans for a new carbon fibre bodykit that it intends to fit to the Volkswagen ID. Buzz. We’re pretty sure this one will split opinion.

Now, if you recognise the name Zyrus you might just be remembering the super-sensible LP1200 Strada it first showed off in 2021. That was nothing too exciting – just a 1,200bhp road-legal Lamborghini Huracán with a rear wing bigger than an MP’s second home.

Anyway, it has also recently used some of its carbon knowledge to some add-on parts for the Porsche Taycan, but even so this Buzz is a bit of a surprise.

Zyrus might just be the first company to state its intention to modify the new-age EV van, and it certainly hasn’t played it safe. The sketches above show that it hopes to fit a front splitter, low side skirts and a rear diffuser, plus a hefty rear wing for that extra downforce the Buzz so badly needs…

The styling kit will cost €11,900 (around £10k), but you’ll have to pay over £4k more for those excellent-looking 22-inch carbon wheels with bespoke carbon aerodiscs. We like. Orders are open now apparently, with deliveries starting in early 2023.
