What do we make of MG’s electric tribute to the Metro 6R4?
New 429bhp MG4 XPower gets some extra aero as a tribute to the rally legend
Just last week, MG released some shadowy images of its upcoming EX4 concept – a car that it said would pay tribute to the iconic Metro 6R4 rally car of the 1980s.
So, now that it has been revealed in full with a run up the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, what do we think of the concept?
Obviously, it’s wearing some pretty big aero bits and those wheels are excellent, but is anyone else a little disappointed that MG didn’t lean further towards the 6R4?
Essentially this is an MG4 in drag. Although we’re told it is a twin-motor MG4 XPower underneath which means it’s putting down 429bhp to all four wheels. Not bad.
Designed by MG’s team in London, it also wears a fairly striking livery that we’re told celebrates the 6R4’s 40th anniversary.
Thoughts, folks?
