Vroom Vroom Toot! Toyota Australia has built this brilliant Big Red Ute for The Wiggles
Children’s music group gets a new stage car to celebrate a partnership with Toyota
This is the Big Red Ute – a custom truck built by Toyota Australia to celebrate a new partnership with multi award-winning children’s music group The Wiggles. Reckon Toyota will build us a TopGear.com branded one if we ask really nicely?
Because this thing is excellent. It very obviously uses exterior design elements from the Toyota FJ Cruiser – particularly that front grille – and is fully driveable thanks to a rear-mounted 48V electric motor that gives it a top speed of… 12mph.
The Big Red Ute will be used as a stage car and will make its debut at the live Wiggle & Learn BIG SHOW in Melbourne on 7 December. We’ll be honest (and this might incur some wrath from fellow 90s babies the world over), we hadn’t heard of The Wiggles until today, but now we’re absolutely obsessed with the new Big Red Ute country song. Vroom! Vroom! Toot! You Buute!
“We were thrilled when we were approached to design and develop the Big Red Ute stage car, and the team wanted to ensure every detail of the vehicle captured the fun and vibrant spirit of The Wiggles,” said Toyota Design Australia’s Michael Mills.
“From the initial creative ideation process to the final, functional model build, every step has been an adventure filled with fun and excitement. We hope the Big Red Ute brings as much joy to fans as it did to us during its creation.”
We’re already filled with joy just looking at it, moreso now that we've discovered it’s also fitted with a bubble machine and LED screen headlights that are programmed as proper eyes. Check out the 12in rainbow turbofan wheels too.
