The Polestar 4 will be the brand’s fastest car in its history*
*Yes, a history that stretches back all of four years. But still, serious acceleration is incoming
The Polestar 4 will be revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show next week, the Swedish brand has confirmed. And guess what? It’ll be a coupe SUV type thing. But of course.
Details are being kept under wraps for now, but Polestar has let slip that the 4 will be its fastest production car yet. Given the Polestar 1 was capable of 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds, undercutting it will make the Polestar 4 officially Quite Quick.
Although all we’ve seen of the car so far is the bird’s eye view of the headlight above, the electric-only company is promising the aerodynamics of a coupe with the interior space of an SUV. So it’s a jacked up Polestar 2, right?
Not so, insists CEO Thomas Ingenlath: “Polestar 4 is not simply a modified version of our first SUV. Instead, we reconsidered the entire design to create a new breed of SUV coupe.”
Various new design cues will feature on the 4, says Polestar, with a number of sustainability measures previewed in past concept cars set to be used in production for the first time when work at the factory begins.
Given the Polestar 3 SUV is meant to enter production later this year - and the 872bhp, four-door GT Polestar 5 is earmarked for sometime in 2024 - we’d suggest this’ll slot in somewhere in between.
More when we have it from Shanghai on 18 April…
