This one-off Pininfarina Battista is coming to Britain

Members of the Great British public – now’s your chance to see the Pininfarina Battista hyper-EV in the metal. It’s going on display at the British Library for just three days in June, the 7th to the 9th, as part of the “A Mind in Motion” exhibition that marks the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death.

What exactly has Leonardo da Vinci got to do with Pininfarina? The company’s Design Director Luca Borgogno explains: “Leonardo was a true Italian genius, the first person to combine the disciplines of art, design and engineering – and from Leonardo in the 16th Century to Pininfarina in 2019, these principles remain strong.”If you say so, Luca.

The Battista is the most powerful car to ever come out of Italy. Or rather it will be, when it’s finished. A 120 kWh lithium ion battery pack (the electrical architecture is being co-developed with Rimac), means it produces approximately 1,900bhp and 1,696 torques, supposedly enabling 0-62mph in less than two seconds, and 0-186mph in less than 12. Beginning in late 2020, 150 will be built for around £2million each. 50 of those will reach Europe. The one that's going on display will wear the special, Da Vinci-inspired livery pictured up top.
