The new MG 5 EV estate will start from just over £30k
Want an electric estate car that isn’t a Porsche? The MG is still your only option…
Somehow MG is already on to the second-generation of its electric estate car, while the rest of the carmaking world faffs about with crossovers and SUVs. In fact, if you want an EV estate in the UK you’re still limited to either the MG 5 or Porsche’s Taycan Sport/Cross Turismo.
And now, there’s news from MG. Prices and final specs have been confirmed, and this second 5 is a little more expensive than the first (in part thanks to the removal of the government’s plug-in car grant).
Don’t worry, the 5 hasn’t suddenly become a Taycan rival, but it will start at £30,995 for the base spec SE trim. Top spec Trophy trim will be £33,495.
The former gets 16-inch wheels, LED lights all round, a rear parking camera, adaptive cruise control and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto for the 10.25-inch central infotainment screen. Trophy trim adds larger 17-inch wheels, heated leather seats, automatic wipers and a full 360-degree camera.
MG says the new 5 – which also gets fancy vehicle to load charging and a 61kWh battery for 249 miles of range – is available to order now with first deliveries taking place before the end of 2022.
