Merc's eVito Tourer is a nine-seat e-van with a 260-mile range
Need to transport your extended family from London to Leeds? Merc has the answer
Do you have seven children? Do you frequently make 200-odd mile car journeys? Are you looking for a way to cut your CO2 emissions? Are you sick of all these questions? If you answered yes to all, then a) sorry, and b) Mercedes has just the thing for you. That thing being the eVito Tourer.
Okay, okay – we know of course that the Tourer will almost never be used as a family car. It’ll mainly be deployed as a taxi or a hotel shuttle, and surely electric power is ideal for vehicles of that nature.
The Vito’s size means there’s room for a 90kWh battery under the floor, providing a claimed 262 miles of range. Said battery is then connected to an electric motor for a power output of 201bhp and 267lb ft of torque. Top speed is 87mph.
Mercedes says that the low centre of gravity has a “positive effect on the eVito Tourer's handling” and that the battery can be charged from 10-80 per cent in under 45 minutes when connected to a rapid charger.
We don’t have any information on pricing as of yet, but we do know that the eVito will be available in either long or extra-long forms – the larger of the two measuring a massive 5.3 metres from front to rear bumper.
Inside, the Tourer can be had with either two rear bench seats or in a face-to-face ‘living room’ style setup.
That’s it for now then. Thoughts, Internet?
