Fisker's Ocean will do 0-60mph in less than three seconds
Finally, some performance figures for Fisker’s $37k electric SUV
Fisker has made a new announcement about its Ocean electric SUV. Y’know, the one with a 300-mile range, a vegan interior and a starting price of $37k. The latest announcement is all about size.
We’ll come back to that shortly, because buried underneath the headline size news is the fact that an “ultra-high performance” version of the Ocean is being planned.
Further, this “ultra-high performance” version of the Ocean will be able to accelerate from 0-60mph in less than three seconds. The final power output of this car will be announced in 2021, which of course leads to the possibility of year-round Fisker Ocean news drips. But we digress.
Less than three seconds. That’s silly quick. Tesla’s Model Y – which, incidentally, is fractionally longer, shorter and narrower than the Fisker Ocean – will do 0-60mph in 3.5secs if you wait for the Performance version. Anyone else smell an e-SUV fight brewing?
We’re told a standard-spec Ocean SUV will kick out 300bhp via four-wheel drive, the drivetrain being offered on all configurations barring the base model. No word on that 300bhp car’s acceleration, but it’ll be fairly rapid one suspects.
Elsewhere you have wheels (20in as standard or 22in as an option), a 566-litre boot, roof rails, a head-up display, lots of interior screens, a ‘California’ mode (it opens practically every window and panel in one button), and a range of up to 300 miles from its 80kWh battery.
“We look forward to sharing more developments on the Fisker Ocean with the world soon,” explains boss Henrik Fisker. Tune in same Bat-time, same Bat-channel…
