Fisker wants to build an electric pickup truck

E-truck will sit alongside the SUV, the mad super-saloon, and a crossover

Published: 31 Jul 2020

Henrik Fisker wants to build an electric pickup truck. We know this because his company, Fisker Inc, has said it wants to build a pickup truck.

By 2025, there’ll be – all things going to plan – four electric Fiskers, as teased in the image above. The truck you will notice, is tantalisingly covered up, but the others we know about.

One’s the Ocean e-SUV, the other’s a ‘sports crossover’, and one of them is the mad, 780bhp four-door super saloon. That one's called the EMotion, and we’re quite excited about it. All four Fisker models will feature platforms, batteries and components “from the world’s leading OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers”, we’re informed.

“When we created Fisker Inc,” says Mr Fisker, “we set out to create a company that could deliver electric mobility as a service, but do so through a range of highly emotional and differentiated vehicles.”

Yup, they’re different alright. And despite being a way off, the e-truck’s already got competition, with things like the Rivian R1T, Bollinger B2, and the frankly fantastically-named Nikola Badger. Plus, GM is bringing the Hummer back as an electric Thing, Ford is making the F-150 electric, and a company called ‘Tesla’ unveiled something called a ‘Cybertruck’. Must dig into that last one.

More as we have it.
