Extreme E will be streamed on the BBC
The all-electric off-road championship will be shown on the BBC’s digital platforms
It’d be fair to say that Extreme E has piqued our attention. Any race series that promises big-name drivers, picturesque locations and JUMPS certainly should.
And then there are the wackier ideas – the paddock for example, which will travel to each of the five extreme race locations aboard the former Royal Mail ship St Helena. Wild.
Good news then, because the BBC has announced a multi-year partnership with the new sport’s organisers which will see every race streamed live and free across the BBC digital platforms. We’re intrigued to see how all of this pans out.
There’s potentially a hefty Brit interest in the series too. Veloce Racing is a UK-based team with ex-F1 mastermind Adrian Newey on board, and both Jamie Chadwick and Billy Monger have enrolled in the Drivers’ Programme with the hope of securing a seat.
The inaugural event will take place in Dakar, Senegal in January 2021. Will you be watching, Internet?
