Elon Musk says a fully-loaded Tesla Semi has driven 500 miles on a charge

Tesla’s electric truck is nearly here, so says Elon…

Published: 28 Nov 2022

Back in August this year, Elon Musk announced that the Tesla Semi truck would finally start being delivered to customers before 2022 runs its course. And now he's claimed that a fully-loaded Semi has successfully travelled 500 miles on a single charge.

That 500-mile figure has been Tesla’s target since the Semi was unveiled in 2017, with Musk saying on Twitter (obviously) that a team had completed the drive with a total vehicle weight of 81,000lbs.

The max weight limit for haulers in the US is currently 80,000lbs, but electric truck makers are in talks with lawmakers about raising the bar for EVs.

We’re still yet to learn what battery the Semi is using in order to achieve its target range, but hopefully Elon will reveal more before customers get them out on US roads.

What do we think, Internet? Is the haulage industry about to undergo a major shift?
