The Citroen Ami van is also coming to the UK

Need to carry small loads over small distances in busy cities? Here’s your answer…

Published: 28 Oct 2021

Great news for small (and very small) businesses: Citroen has confirmed that the commercial version of the Ami – the Ami Cargo – will go on sale in the UK in 2022. Hurrah!

This follows the success of the passenger Ami, which has had over 1,400 reservations on our shores since Citroen announced it’d be available back in September

The Ami Cargo can be reserved now with a £250 deposit, and the specs are largely similar to the ‘standard’ Ami. That means an 8bhp electric motor is paired with a 5.5kWh battery pack for a city range of up to 46 miles.

This van version replaces the passenger seat with a seven-part plastic storage module that ups load capacity to an impressive 400 litres. There’s also a 140kg payload, which somehow is just 10kg less than a Suzuki Jimny commercial.

It won’t be converted to right-hand drive for the UK, but the whole car (not really a car) is less than 1.4 metres wide, so that shouldn’t matter so much. Oh, and a secondary shelf unit inside can be converted into a desk when parked up, making this the perfect little mobile office. Remember offices?

Anyway, what do you reckon, Internet? Expecting to see a load of these working away in our cities next year?
