Check out this (oddly low-res) teaser of the electric MG Cyberster

The long-anticipated MG Cyberster electric sports car gets shown off in a bizarrely sub-HD YouTube clip

Published: 03 Aug 2022

No, your wifi isn’t playing up: the teaser video below really does max out at 240p, so you can stop cursing your router with R-rated language.

The grainy quality is a shame, because the clip teases the production version of the otherwise sensational-looking MG Cyberster. Yep, the Venom-faced, sports car concept that the British brand is lining up as its flagship electric product.

When the Cyberster concept was fully unveiled last year MG promised 0-62mph in under three seconds and a range of up to 500 miles, though there’s no word yet on whether the production car will actually hit those lofty targets.

This is MG after all, makers of the extremely cheap (sorry, affordable) ZS EV and the forthcoming 5 EV estate: it’s overwhelmingly likely that the Cyberster will follow the same pricing trend, and therefore overwhelmingly unlikely that it’ll outstrip a Porsche Taycan for a fraction of the cost. But we’ll see.

The video below doesn’t give much away, other than its folding roof and many, many close-ups of the car’s exterior details.

It ends with the caption ‘Return of the Legend’, which is either a nod to the designer’s favourite Lord of the Rings and/or Star Wars film, or a hint that the Cyberster will adopt a historic MG nameplate for production.

Any suggestions folks? As we wait for the car’s full launch, please send in your telegrams forthwith.
