Audi’s building a self-driving city car concept
It’s called the AI:me, and it’s not an April Fools
Audi will build a self-driving city car concept, to be displayed at the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show. This is what the designers sketched out, presumably not on the back of a cigarette packet.
It’s called the AI:me, because of course. Audi hasn’t told us anything else about this “vision of an automated driving compact car for the megacities of tomorrow”, but make no mistake it’ll probably be an electric concept.
Because it’s a self-driving car and it’s set in the future, there’s a full wraparound digital screen, a Knight Rider-style steering wheel and a body that looks like an extra from Akira’s Neo-Tokyo. Presumably, there'll also be somewhere to sit - unless Audi knows something about future gravitational pulls where drivers just float in front of the wheel...
More as we have it.
