Audi's AI:TRAIL is an electric off-road concept
Will somebody please turn on the lights?
This is the Audi AI:TRAIL Quattro concept, which in HumanSpeak we can broadly translate as: autonomous, electric and off-road. There’s probably more to it than that, but Audi hasn’t yet divulged those particulars.
We know that this concept will be fully unveiled with proper lighting at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, and there’s also the fact that the brand’s ‘AI’ nomenclature indicates self-driving. Plus, TRAIL is in CAPS LOCK, no doubt replicating the shouty terror of having an electric buggy drive you off-road. Hands and feet inside the carriage, people.
Looks like a lot of fun, mind. It follows Audi’s smart AICON concept from a couple of years ago (A8-size, Level 5 autonomy) and the AI:ME (A3-sized, Level 4 autonomy). There’s no reference point so we don’t know how big this thing is: could be the size of an Audi Q5, or indeed the size of a small shoe. Either way works for us.
