An all-electric Cadillac Escalade is coming
GM confirms the follow-up to the fancy hand-built Celestiq EV with a celebrity fave
General Motors has announced that an electric-only Cadillac Escalade will launch later this year. In an unusually brief press release (less than 100 words), the brand said the luxury electric SUV would "promise the same commitment to craftsmanship, technology and performance"... which tells us pretty much nothing.
What we do know is that the EV will be called the Escalade IQ. And for that we have to be grateful.
Since it follows on from the Lyriq (Cadillac’s first ever EV), and the luxury landboat Celestiq, it could very well have been the 'Escaladiq' – but that would have been really silly.
As the third model to join the pure electric line-up, there’s a fair bit of hype around the celeb-fave SUV.
Prototype shots have been spied, showing softer lines than the notably boxier OG Escalade and a few comparable features to the Celestiq.
Though we're told the Celestiq will be built, by hand, at GM's Global Technical Centre in Michigan – the brand's spent a cool $81 million kitting the campus out – we can't imagine the Escalade will follow suit.
For more on that though, we'll just have to sit back and wait.
