The 248-mile Toyota Urban Cruiser will cost around £30k

Exciting news in the world of small-ish SUV-crossovers...

Published: 12 Feb 2025

Exciting news in the world of small-ish SUV-crossovers: fresh details for the resurrected, fully-electric Toyota Urban Cruiser have just emerged, including confirmation of a circa £30k entry point to allow it to sit competitively alongside the closely related Suzuki e-Vitara.

The target is 248 miles from a single squeeze of its juiciest battery offering, a 61kWh unit paired with either a 172bhp front-driven motor, or a version with two motors, all-wheel drive and 182bhp. If you're thinking of rivals, that range target puts it directly between the entry-level Kia EV3 (270 miles) and a boggo-spec Volvo EX30 (214 miles).

Alternatively, you could have a smaller 49kWh battery matched to a 142bhp motor on the front axle, though Toyota has yet to confirm how many miles this little Urban Cruiser can... cruise.

In terms of trim, the base ‘Icon’ will get 18in alloys, a pair of 10in screens and a reversing camera. ‘Design’ adds a heated steering wheel and seats, while the top-spec ‘Excel’ gains 19in alloys, a JBL audio system, synthetic leather and a sunroof.

Orders for the new Urban Cruiser can be placed this summer before deliveries begin later in the year. Reckon this one will shift in better numbers than its forebear?
