Infiniti’s new Q60: full details

Next year, Infiniti will build a proper production version of a car to rival BMW's 4-Series and Audi's A5. It'll look a little bit like this: the concept Q60 revealed at this year's Detroit Motor Show.

A bit of context: Infiniti already makes a Q60, but that's a rebadged G37 Coupe. So following on from last week's first look - and news we brought you last year - Infiniti has now given us more details on the ‘new' Q60 Concept, the company's "most accessible" concept so far.

Speaking of which, we can exclusively reveal that the concept will feature two whole doors, as well as an aluminium and carbon fibre body that measures in at just under 4.7m long, 1.8m wide and 1.3m high, pretty much bang on for Bee Em's 4-er.

There's also Infiniti's drive-by-wire steering tech as seen on the Q50 saloon (on which the production Q60 will be based), a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 mounted up front, powering all four wheels, and a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

We suspect the production version will be a RWD only affair, but that engine will preview a new line of "lighter, smaller more efficient and more powerful" engines over the next two years.

What else? The concept will get 21in wheels, directional LED lights up front, customisable interior lighting, hand-stitched leather instrument panel, steering wheel and door inserts, and even bucket seats for the rear passengers.

As mentioned, though it sports a ‘concept' badge, it's a precursor for a proper two-door coupe. Infiniti vice president Francois Bancon said: "Come next year, Infiniti will produce a sports coupe with influences from the Q60 Concept."
