Crash news - What was that? - 2010

Published: 14 Apr 2010

UFO conspiracies are afoot in the TopGear office. After this morning's ‘cosmic rays broke my Toyota' weirdness, we now turn our Mulder-and-Scully-like attention to this terrifying crash photo from Switzerland.

Local media reports that the two occupants of this car survived the monster impact after - and we quote - 'the driver of a car registered in France passed a vehicle without seeing a truck that normally happen in reverse'.

You want to watch out for those trucks that normally happen in reverse. And also relying on Google Translate to help you decipher foreign news reports.

But - to return to our UFO conspiracy thread - does anyone else smell a Rockwell-style rat? Surely no normal humans could survive such a monstrous impact? Do we have Kevlar-skinned, hatch-driving aliens walking among us?

If that's a bit of a hefty question for a Wednesday afternoon, here's a (slightly) more straightforward one. What the hell is that car? Or, rather, what was it before it became thoroughly mangled by a truck that normally happens in reverse?

Suggestions in the comments-bit below. The first correct answer wins big respec'. Or something.
