Skoda's latest student-penned concept is a Kamiq rally car
The Skoda Apprentice scheme celebrates 120 years of motorsport with a Dakar-inspired plaything
Skoda’s student designs are an endless source of joy. A bunch of bright young things whose creative spark hasn’t yet been dulled by ‘market conditions’ or ‘profit margins’, they turn Skodas we already quite like for their sensibleness into Skodas we suddenly love for their silliness.
So following the Citigo beach buggy, Rapid sports car and Karoq roadster comes something with just a smidge less madness but just as much joy running through it: a Kamiq rally car.
Yep, the Skoda Academy has teamed up with Skoda Motorsport for the first time, celebrating 120 years of the latter with a Dakar-inspired crossover.
It’s just a bunch of early sketches for now, with 25 apprentices now working on bringing the idea to reality. Expect RIDE HEIGHT. Expect WHEEL ARCHES. Expect us to chain ourselves to the hand sanitiser station at the local Skoda dealer in order to get this build in lieu of the samey small SUV Skoda sells us at the moment.
More as we have it….
