OK, turns out the Genesis X Speedium Coupe is gorgeous
Name could use a little work, but the rest is a work of art
Remember the Genesis X Speedium Coupe concept? No? That’s OK; you’ve had a lot on. We showed you some exterior renders back in April, but now we’ve had a chance to pore over what it all looks like in the real world. Pretty spectacular, to be honest.
And yes, it’s called the Speedium, which sounds like the name of a laxative and presumably rhymes with tedium, but there’s hardly anything boring about the design. If this were a wine tasting, we’d be saying things like, ‘Notes of fastback Mustang and Aston Martin Vantage combine in a full-bodied grand tourer, with the result putting us in mind of bold vintages like the Tatra T87’. But thankfully we aren’t, and you need never indulge such a digression again.
Instead, we’d like to take a minute – just sit right there – to tell you how much we love an interior with that much architectural flair. Special mention goes to the Eero Saarinen-worthy sweep of the dash and the fact that the passenger can’t fiddle with any of the controls. If we are the driver, we are also the DJ, remember? No? That’s OK, we’ll be sure to remind you.
