Loremo news - Guilty pleasure - 2007
We know that motor show concepts tend to be a little lean on real world application most of the time, but there's something strangely alluring about this Loremo.
Shaped like the disco version of Honda's late-lamented Insight (it's the bubble top and rear deck that does it), the Loremo strays gently into that part of the collective TG.com mindset labelled 'Odd But Good'.
Its German makers bill it as the first four-seater sports car capable of more than 100mpg - 117mpg to be exact - which even the most committed diesel supermini would find hard to match. Actually, some of the TG staff would find that hard to match when walking.
As with most econo-tastic machinery, it's quite obviously dog slow: the 'LS' version hits 0-62mph in 20 seconds thanks to a tiny, fuel-sipping two-pot engine.
If that's too glacial for you, then go for the performance option; stuff it, the GT has a three-cylinder motor, gets to 62mph in 9.9 seconds and still returns 104mpg.
Proposed prices start at 11,000 Euros for the LS and 15,000 Euros for the GT, and Loremo says the cars should be on sale in 2009 after the debut of the working prototype at the Frankfurt motor show.
