Hello! Genesis has unveiled two glorious Bentley-rivalling concept cars

Genesis has turned its flagship G90 into a monster two-door coupe, and then it’s done a convertible version for good measure

Say hello to the Bentley… wait no, that’s not right. What you see above is the Genesis X Gran Coupe and the Genesis X Gran Convertible. Both are giant two-door grand tourers spun off the current G90 flagship saloon platform, and sadly both are just concept cars for the moment.

“In the 10 years since our launch, Genesis has been dedicated to delivering its unique values to more than 1.3 million customers worldwide,” said Genesis boss Mike Song. “We aim to seize this opportunity as a launchpad for a new decade, showcasing models that embody Genesis' pursuit of high-performance technology and future luxury design.”

Hmmm, that does sound like there’s a chance these two Continental GT rivals could make production. Carpe diem, Mike.

Unveiled at the Seoul Mobility Show, both concepts feature a sharp, sporting version of the familiar Genesis grille, which is flanked by another Genesis signature: those ‘two-line headlights’ that reach around and reappear behind the front wheel arches. The air intakes below the grille are more aggressive than on the G90 saloon too, and we’re told the track width has been increased for better stance.

There’s a steeply raked windscreen on both the coupe and convertible too, plus long bonnets and low roofs. The monster doors are pillarless and the wheels are as large as possible to really add some drama to the side profile.

We’re told that the X Gran Coupe you see here is inspired by a ‘Mediterranean olive tree’ hence the green paint and green ‘n’ tan leather interior. Plenty of actual olive wood in there too, and apparently the leather was naturally tanned using wastewater from Italian olive oil production. Bet it smells lovely.

The X Gran Convertible takes its inspiration from fine wines, with the exterior colour apparently designed to resemble pressed grapes, while the interior is a tribute to Blue Nun. Okay, we made that last bit up, but just look at that cockpit!

Reckon Genesis should put these two GTs into production, folks?
