The Genesis G90 limo is coming to Europe, but not the UK
Boo - big Genesis makes it to Germany and Switzerland, but won’t cross the channel
Genesis has announced its G90 saloon, a car that in its current generation was first unveiled back in 2021, is finally coming to Europe. Hurrah! But there’s a catch.
The G90 will go on sale in Genesis’s European markets – currently just Germany and Switzerland – with customers able to ‘register interest’ from today, but a Genesis spokesperson has told TG that it won't make the switch from left- to right-hand drive. Yep, that means we still won’t get it in the UK.
The Korean Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7 Series rival will be offered in both short and long-wheelbase forms in Europe, with the latter providing an extra 190mm of legroom over the former. And the short wheelbase is hardly a squeeze in the rear.
We’re told that you’ll be able to spec either four or five seats in the short wheelbase G90, but the longboy will only be available in fancy four-seat trim. Sounds like Genesis has put some proper development into the way the G90 drives for Europe too.
“As you would expect from a Genesis flagship sedan, the G90 is something very special and we have built on that with this European edition,” says Lawrence Hamilton, managing director at Genesis Motor Europe. “We have made a significant investment developing and fine tuning the ride, dynamics and feel of the G90 to ensure it meets European tastes.
“European cars will be luxuriously specified. The very best, and latest, technology, luxury and safety equipment will come as standard on every European G90.”
Exactly what specs make it over to Germany and Switzerland is yet to be announced, but to our eyes at least the G90 with its monster clamshell bonnet is a rather lovely looking limo with some impressive wheel designs. Oh, and in the rest of the world it’s powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6.
The campaign to get it to the UK starts here.
