Of course it's a Skoda Kodiaq monster truck
Skoda's design students have made a balloon-tyred, Sunny D-coloured SUV
Skoda employs students with wild imaginations, it would seem. This is the latest concept car to come from Skoda’s mechanical engineering school, and it appears to be a Kodiaq monster truck.
We’d expect nothing less, though. Skoda’s Student Concept Car scheme has previously brought us a Citigo beach buggy, a sports car based on the usually boring Rapid and a pick-up Fabia. It’s a scheme with some form in turning entirely rational cars into entirely random ones.
Thus we see a two-door Kodiaq pick-up with the oversized wheels and tyres not far behind Big Foot's, wearing a colour that suggests it’s been drinking unwise quantities of Sunny Delight.
“Where else do you get this unique opportunity to build your own car as part of your vocational training,” says student Zuzana Otradovská, “in a small team and with the support of experienced Skoda engineers, designers and teachers, all while being able to implement your own ideas and visions?”
In short, Zuzana is living the dream of all those idle sketches in the back of her maths book actually being made real, with the might of one of the world’s biggest carmaking groups behind it. Jealous, us? Absolutely. We’ll see the finished item in June.
