Alfa TZ3 Stradale by Zagato: pics and video

Published: 03 May 2011

This is Zagato's TZ3 Stradale, the road-legal follow-up to last year's splendid coachbuilt TZ3 Corsa racer. Looks all nice and Italiany, right? Wrong. It's actually a funked-up Dodge Viper.

Zagato is describing it as 'the first American Alfa Romeo' which explains why there's a dirty great big Dodge 600bhp 8.4-litre V10 engine where you'd usually find a tortured twin-cam. They've nicked the Dodge's tubular steel chassis too, which is hidden under the all-carbon-fibre Stradale shell.

The Alfodge's oily stuff might not be thoroughbred Italian, but it does come from the suicidal track-spec Viper ACR. 0-60 takes 3.3 seconds and it'll get to 192mph. This new lighter Zagato shell has been sculpted to celebrate Alfa's centenary and doffs its hat to the Sixties Alfa TZ's Kamm tail (that sliced off and pinched backside bit). And with less weight, it may be even quicker.

Just 10 are being built and car number one has already been sold. So, would you take one of the remaining nine over an original, pure-bred Alfa?
