This Porsche 550 Spyder snuck into the Mercedes Museum

Did you know that - according to his good friend and former amateur Porsche racer Lew Bracker - James Dean once wanted to open a Porsche dealership, and had his driving style described as being 'like Stirling Moss'?

Anyhoo, that's the car that Dean loved the most, up top. The Porsche 550 Spyder. Surrounded, as you'll probably notice, by a brace of classic racing Benzes. It's because the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart wants to celebrate the Porsche Museum's 10th anniversary, and has thus allowed the open-topped interloper into its mix.

Because, as Merc says, "good friends are always welcome". How lovely!
