Photo of the Day: Ford Focus RS dresses up as police car

On this day 30 years ago, Ford sent journalists this picture.

It’s of a police-spec RS200 pulling over a Sierra Cosworth on the A12 in Essex, not far from Ford’s offices in Brentwood. Staged, obviously, but deeply cool.

The accompanying press release spoke of how Essex Police was trailing the RS200, and that officers had declared it a ‘stunning hit’. As far as we know, the RS200 never saw service as a proper patrol car, but the current Focus RS might…

Bad news for speeders everywhere, but good news for existing RS owners. Say goodbye to lane-hoggers and tailgaters -  everyone will think you’re undercover plod...
