Gallery: Silverstone Classic 2013
Billed as the ‘world's biggest motor racing festival', last weekend's Silverstone Classic featured 24 historic races with more than 1100 machines spanking round the track, consuming two paddocks.
And, in a rare turn of events, the downpour on Saturday actually made things better. Many insanely expensive, rare and widow-making old cars took to the track and tussled on tyres the width of iPhones with the same adhesive properties as warm butter.
Alongside the racing, Aston was also celebrating its centenary, Lamborghini its 50th and - just in case you haven't read the Internet this year - the Porsche 911 celebrated its 50th.
Porsche tried to rustle up 911 911s on the track, but it was a tad over-subscribed, culminating in 1208 of the iconic sportsters parading around the track. At its head were Porsche legends Derek Bell, Richard Attwood, John Fitzpatrick and David Piper, leading a new world record number of Porsche 911s.
