Gallery: relive the excellence of the 74th Goodwood MM
A roster of astonishing, priceless classics hooned for your pleasure by motoring legends. Yes
Last weekend saw the 74th Goodwood Member's Meeting. It's an astonishing event for a number of reasons, but principally because it largely involves a jaw-dropping line-up of drool-worthy classic racers being absolutely thrashed outside Lord March's house.
Think more like Goodwood Revival than Festival, then; an exclusive, members only weekend of historic motor racing, and one of the few places you’ll see multi-million-pound racers thrown about like a £1,000 Mazda MX-5 on a track day.
The event's origins lie in Lord March's desire to recreate the action of the original BARC members' meetings that occured throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Decades not wanting for style, grace and power, you'll agree. This year saw everything from aero-engined monsters, touring cars through to a celebration of ‘ground-effect’ Formula One cars.
Didn't get a chance to see it live? Fear not. May we present to you some rather excellent imagery from the event, though it comes with a warning: the cars pictured are actually amazing.
