Chevrolet Orlando news - Orlando the free - 2008
This is the Chevrolet Orlando, the second in an extensive line of Chevys named after matinee film idols.
Following the Chevrolet Cruise (OK, it's actually the Cruze, but don't let that spoil a tenuous joke), the Orlando is, we think, named in honour of Mr Bloom, of Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings fame.
The Orlando is a seven-seat concept which, says Chevrolet, combines the attributes of an SUV and MPV. It's a handsome thing, featuring bold, blocky styling and maybe just a hint of Scion-Toyota-esque boxiness.
The dash looks decent, too - and near production-ready, we reckon - with swoopy lines similar to the Orlando's GM stablemate, the new Vauxhall Insignia.
Power comes from a very sensible-sounding two-litre common rail diesel developing 148bhp and 236lb ft of torque.
After the concept's appearance at the Paris show, we'd expect the Orlando to morph into production form some time during 2009.
Just in time for the Chevy Clooney, Pitt and Broadbent to hit the roads.
