Chevrolet Captiva news - Rubbing it in - 2007
Being covered in latex and then scratched all over may sound like some sort of perversion for suburban couples on the weekend, but it's really just Chevrolet's hilariously creative way of launching the new Captiva in the UK.
Apparently it took two weeks to cover the new soft-roader in the same material used on lottery scratch cards, but it took only 14 hours for visitors to London's Covent Garden to rub away at the Chevy to find the winning symbol.
Rumours that the winner was disappointed that he hadn't won the virtually identical Vauxhall Antara (also due later this year) proved to be unfounded.
The Scratch Car-d, as Chevy punningly called the car, was sat on a bed of 16,995 penny coins to highlight its price, although the estimated cost of touch-up paint remained undisclosed.
