Rolls-Royce has sold more super-luxury cars than anyone else

Second highest sales in 112-year history for legendary marque

Published: 11 Jan 2016

Rolls-Royce has announced that in 2015, it recorded the second highest sales figure in its 112-year history.

A total of 3,785 hand-built cars found their way into some very lucky hands last year, though that figure is down on 2014’s all-time record of 4,063 cars sold.

That shortfall was largely due to China; the region reported a 54 per cent sales drop over 2014. Still, it means Rolls has sold more €200k-plus cars in 2015 than any other car manufacturer in the world.

And how’s this for context? In 2003, the company sold just 300 cars globally.

The Wraith and Ghost were big sellers, but the Phantom was the kingpin. Pre-orders for the upcoming Dawn drophead coupe (pictured) reportedly ‘broke all previous records’ too, while Rolls’ ‘Bespoke’ service was used on nearly every single Rolls Royce sold last year.

And, don’t forget, 2018 will see the introduction of a brand new Rolls-Royce SUV complete with a brand new aluminium space frame platform, which will form the basis of all future Rolls products.

That future will be underpinned by Rolls’ investment at Goodwood, and in a new tech and logistics centre at Bognor Regis.
