A man has recorded an entire song in the back of a Rolls Royce

Skepta uses new RR Phantom to conceive and record a whole track

Published: 08 Dec 2017

Many things have been done in the back of a Rolls-Royce. Business things. Possibly boozy things. Now, a man has recorded an entire song in the back of one.

The back of the all-new, eighth-generation Rolls-Royce Phantom, no less. Yes folks, MOBO award-winning grime artist Skepta has recorded a track while being chauffeured along the banks of Lake Lucerne and through some mountains in Switzerland. Which sounds absolutely delightful. How lovely.

It’s testament of course, to the Rolls’ supreme atmosphere of quiet and calm that allowed Skepta to conceive and record his track – dubbed ‘Skepta RR’ – using the new limo as his base.

After all, it’s got more than 130kg worth of sound insulation, and two-layer, 6mm glazing. Perfect for the rolling recording studio.

Don’t forget, the Phantom has a long, fine history of supporting musicians. John Lennon – a bit famous, was in a band of some sort, we think – customised his very own Phantom V into a luminous, psychedelic daydream.

The rear seat was converted into a double bed, and he had a TV, telephone, fridge installed into it too. Along with a record player and new sound system.

What else do you think could be achieved in the back of a Rolls? Keep ‘em clean, mind...
