Lotus Elise Club Racer - Go Club Racer - 2009
Fancy an Elise in a slightly different
flavour? Then this Club Racer special edition should be right up your alley.
Despite what the name suggests, there’s no rollcage or fire extinguisher on
board, but Lotus has given it some lightweight ‘microfibre’ seat pads to keep
your buttocks in place.
The pads are cunningly positioned to allow
the body-coloured seat shell to show through, keeping your interior and
exterior nicely harmonised (the transmission tunnel does the same trick).
The gearknob and handbrake sleeve are ‘anthracite anodised’, which sounds very
sci-fi, while the foot wells have lost carpet in favour of anodised
alumuminium.
And for all the drift monkeys out there, the steering wheel has an on-centre
marker so you know exactly where your front wheels are pointing as you slither
around like a crazy sidewinder.
Completing the look is a choice of classic Lotus paintjobs from the ’60s,
including Elite Yellow, Carbon Grey and Old English White, which is probably
made with the teardrops from a furry sheepdog.
The Club Racer is based on a basic Elise S and will cost £25,712.
If that’s got you excited about Lotus, why not have a watch of Clarkson being
chased down by an Apache in an Exige:
