Jaguar XF news - Oxford blues - 2009

Published: 27 May 2009

Beware, ye delinquents, desperados and deuces: Jaguar has just unveiled its police-spec XF.

We weren't so keen on the blues-and-twos Vauxhall Insignia we showed you last week, but we have to confess that Jag's big exec saloon makes a most excellent jam sandwich. Unless you're being flagged down onto the hard shoulder of the M4 by one, that is.

Unfortunately - or perhaps fortunately, depending on your criminal intentions - it's the diesel V6 ‘S', not the full-fat, 510bhp V8-powered XF-R. Fuel bills for the Old Bill, no doubt.

Even so, the 3.0-litre diesel XF will hit 60mph in just under six seconds while returning 42mpg, 179g/km of CO2... and a steady stream of scallies to the local jailhouse.

Jaguar says the XF-S is currently being evaluated by police forces across the country. It's what Morse would have wanted...

Now watch Jeremy, Richard and James buy a white van for under £1,000... and race the Stig in a police car:
