Classified ad of the week: Jag E-Type
The Jaguar E-Type isn't just the most beautiful car in the world, it's the most beautiful thing in the world. Which is why changing it in any way would be utter heresy (unless, of course, you're a company called Eagle).
That said, there's something rather fetching about this Series 2 model, draped with a so-bad-it's-good Union Jack. Even more so when you consider its For Sale ad's auspicious timing.
For those reading this from under a rock, Queen Elizabeth II - her off the coins and stamps - is celebrating her Diamond Jubilee this weekend. Which means congestion in central London, two days off work, and the distribution of many, many flags to celebrate our glorious nation.
But flag waving can be an awfully tiring business. It'd be much easier if your patriotism was powered by, say, a 4.2-litre six-cylinder engine. Which is precisely why this one manages to transcend its own decoration - it's the perfect solution for the under-exercised monarchist.
Those of a certain age may also recognise it from Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, where this very vehicle played a starring role alongside Mike Myers (with paperwork from the film company to prove it). It's one of two E-Types restored and painted with our wondrous flag, with matching interior decoration to match.
This 1970 example was restored back in 1999 and has only driven 6,473 miles since. The vendor promises it's in "a very good condition." You'd hope so, considering its €89,000 (71,437) price tag.
Any Jubileeists fancy this interesting labour-saving device?
