This is a 3000bhp Bentley Conti GT

Published: 28 May 2014

Steve Neimantas is a 48-year old Swiss-trained watch repairer from Brighouse, Yorkshire. Steve is also the owner of a 200mph, 3000bhp drag-racing Bentley Continental GT, too. Because Steve likes speed.

It's the Bentley in the picture above, built by Webster Race Engineering using a branch of wizardry only the denizens of Mordor would understand. It took Webster eight months in total to build the silver bullet, and the end result is quite a lot of fast.

The Brit team took the regular Conti GT, stripped it back to its bare shell and then strengthened the entire thing with a tubular steel frame chassis. Much carbon fibre was used to build the interior, and WRE ditched the standard Conti GT engine and installed a 10.2-litre Chevrolet V8 engine, together with a pair of turbochargers.

All in, the team managed to extract a really-not-insignificant 3082bhp, and because it only weighs 1400kg, it'll do a 0-60mph time of under two seconds (UNDER TWO SECONDS) and will go from 0-200mph in seven seconds. The total cost of the build? An also really-not-insignificant £250,000.

You can listen to the monster engine firing up here, and view more pictures of the road-legal car on WRE's Facebook page. And then tell us: Chevy V8 in a Brit GT... sacrilege or demented genius?
