BMW teases the M6 Gran Coupe
This is the BMW M6 Gran Coupe. And that's perhaps all we can definitely tell you at this moment in time.
You see, it appears 'The Internet' has forced BMW's hand. At a celebration of its M Division at the Nürburgring last week, some enthusiastic Internet types snapped pictures of this silver bullet in the corner ahead of schedule and posted them online.
Turns out the rest of 'The Internet' has a rapacious appetite for M Division products, and thus, BMW has released a set of shady, moody pictures of its forthcoming super-saloon-coupe to quell your anxiety. Sadly, we're left with the wantonly tantalising prospect of having to wait until December for the official details.
But, using recent M Division form as a template, we can guess it'll probably have a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 as in the M6 and M5, producing the same 552bhp and 501lb ft of torque. In those cars, 0-62mph is dealt with in 4.2 and 4.3 seconds respectively, with the M5 weighing in at a whopping 1,945kg. The GC is a tad lighter on its toes, so expect similar times.
Plus, expect an entire battalion of electronic driver aids to keep the M6 Gran Coupe's posterior from visiting the nearest tree/lamppost. Saying that, those electronics would probably suit the serene nature of the Gran Coupe more so than the M6 Coupe, but of course, we'll tell you once we've driven it.
Prices? £100k+, probably. We'll have more details in December. For now, discuss: M6 Gran Coupe - a good or bad idea?
