BMW news - BMW aims big with Gran Turismo - 2007

Expect to see a lot more of BMW over the next few years.

Executives at the BMW Group have today laid out the company's strategy for the next few years, in a document we can only assume was covertly titled 'Plans for Total World Domination'. 

Spearheading the attack will be four new models, including a four-door coupe based on the CS concept we saw at this year's Shanghai motor show. 

Expected to be called the Gran Turismo, the big, sleek coupe will sit on the new 7-Series platform, as will a smaller Rolls-Royce (one of BMW's subsidiary marques), which will be positioned below the Phantom in the model line-up.

Mini isn't to be left out of BMW's big plans, either - the long-rumoured 4x4 Mini is certain to get made alongside the new Clubman.

And, in higher-concept territory, BMW says that its proposed SFC (space-functional concept) study is being dropped in favour of a Progessive Activity Sedan concept, which will apparently 'establish an entirely new segment introducing a unique interpretation of the sedan'. Hmm.

BMW reckons all these new models should help boost annual sales to well over two million vehicles by 2020. They're taking over the world...
