Is this 960bhp Dodge Charger your kind of thing?

Speedkore’s intricately detailed, $400k 1970 Charger heads to California’s car week

Published: 13 Aug 2019

Speedkore, an American tuning company, has announced it will showcase its immensely detailed and handcrafted 1970 Dodge Charger at California’s car week. That’s this week.

And while this Charger's not a brand new thing – indeed, we first saw it late last year – it remains a very interesting thing. Quite wonderful, some of you might say.

That’s because Speedkore has custom designed a 2x3in box-frame chassis, and laid a full carbonfibre body over it. Like, full carbonfibre – the arches, doors, roof, bumpers. All carbonfibre everything.

The company has also rather excellently dropped in the 6.2-litre supercharged V8 from the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, along with a custom-built stainless steel exhaust, and a six-speed Tremec ‘6060’ gearbox.

All in, the car dubbed ‘Evolution’ kicks out 960bhp at the rear wheels, and helping manage at least some of that are coilovers from Penske, 19in front/20in rear HRE wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres, and a 14-point roll cage in case things get topsy turvy.

It’s a world of restomodded goodness inside, too, with carbondoor panels, a custom-built dash, centre console and steering column, and Recaro seats surrounded by ‘Cigar’ leather.

As mentioned, Speedkore will show the car off at McCall’s Motorworks Revival on 14 August in Monterey, as part of Monterey’s week-long celebration of the humble automobile.

The cost is $400k, depending on each customers’ individual specification. So, is this your kind of thing?
