The 2904 news - What the hell is the 2904? - 2008

Published: 10 Nov 2008

UPDATE: They made it!

Our American Top Gear counterparts were really earning their ‘crazy cousins’ tag over the weekend - driving right across the US of A in a big pile of rubbish ex-police car.

It was all in aid of The 2904, a bizarre event that was set up last year to prove that you can have cross-country fun on a measly budget. Surprisingly, the money total they were allowed to spend was $2904 (or about £1840), to get from Brooklyn Bridge in New York to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

And, yes, that included buying the car.

If you want to immerse yourself in what they’ve been getting in to these last few days, then scroll back through the US site’s blog section (or use the links at the bottom of here).

Or you can just chuckle at the fact that our own staff writer Dan Read was kidnapped on Friday afternoon to join them on the trip. With a bunch of blokes he’s never met. You can be sure they’re very close friends now.

Hope you’re having fun Dan!
