275bhp Mazda MX-5 breaks cover
Mazda has revealed the most hardcore MX-5 ever built: the very green GT. But before you start rubbing your chubby, sweaty palms in anticipation, the GT - or MiniHulk - is not for sale. It is, in fact, Jota Sport's entrant for the 2011 Britcar Endurance Championship.
Built in conjunction with Mazda, the boffs at Jota spent 400 hours to prep the shell - dipped in acid and now 17 times stronger than required by the FIA - keeping the car's weight down to just 850kg.
This is very good, because with that tweaked 2.0-litre motor chucking out 275bhp, MiniHulk shoots from 0-62mph in just three seconds (bye bye, Aventador), and on to a top speed of 160mph (hello again, Aventador).
It gets a six-speed sequential paddle-shift gearbox, carbon doors, polycarbonate windows and a fetching green metallic paint. The interior has been shown the wrong end of a skip, too. It makes its debut on Sat 26 March at Silverstone in a three hour endurance race. Hulk Mad!
