Service lift

Service time for the i30N, something that’ll cost around £185 every 12 months or 10,000 miles. Given the rate at which I’ve been driving it, the latter’s arrived a long time before the former.

It was all routine stuff, save for a couple of non-urgent recalls. These saw its ECU replaced, to avoid a fuel pressure issue reported on a tiny handful of Ns, and the camera in its windscreen fiddled with, apparently because heavy rain or splattered flies could trigger a false alarm that the Auto Emergency Braking had stopped working. Our car displayed this warning a dozen or so times, but my general apathy towards such active safety systems meant I was never vexed. It’s not materialised since, anyhow, and the car’s running just as sweetly as ever elsewhere.
