Buying
What should I be paying?
Prices have crept up as the Mokka X looks to justify its place between the Crossland X (starting at £17k) and the Grandland X (from 23k). Prices start at £20,035 for a 1.4T manual FWD Design Nav and rise from there. To be fair, a Design Nav with a few bits and bobs is all you need.
It’s a big seller, the Mokka, and now sales figures are slipping it’s safe to assume there are deals to be done. Watch the residuals though – one-year-old cars with 12,000 miles are losing 33 per cent of their value. Expect to pay around £250 per month on lease.
Other cars to look at? We rate the three we mentioned earlier: the Citroen C3 Aircross, Mazda CX-3, and Honda HR-V. Want hybrid or electric – neither of which Vauxhall offers at the moment? Have a look at the Toyota CH-R or Hyundai Kona. The latter has impressed us, especially Kona Electric.
