Toyota RAV4 (US) review

At the low end, you can get your hands on the FWD RAV4 for around $28,475, with the Hybrids between $31-$34k and the TRD Off-Road and AWD Limited trims going as high as the $38-39k range. The RAV4 Prime is technically a separate model, but that version and its big batteries start upwards of $43,000.

Cross-shopping would really be between rivals like the Honda CR-V and Nissan Rogue, which both fit the bill in terms of price and convenience. Both might feel a bit more premium due to their suburban proclivities compared to the RAV4’s spartan ruggedness, though we know which one we’d prefer to go stomp through the dirt.

For our money, the Hybrid Woodland Edition hit the sweet spot between the vast number of options. Having the extra electric bits to extend the range without the fuss of charging was convenient and the number of standard features didn’t leave much else to be desired, apart from the parking cameras.

We were fine to go without the rest, especially with CarPlay at hand. All told, it had everything we’d want for just over $37,400. Did we mention that green?
