The ideal transport for a flooded town such as Doncaster or Tewkesbury. Gentlemen, I give you the future!

Good stuff

Versatility, power, everyday practicality, a frankly astonishing top speed of 138mph

Bad stuff

Vague steering, upskirt drafts, moist seats, an unfortunate habit of drenching other boaters

Overview

What is it?

For 364 days of the year it’s a perfectly normal Transit van. But when the floods come, it transforms into a hovercraft so you can glide over roads, railings, fields, cows, and church spires.

This is made possible thanks to two extra engines: one for lift and another for thrust. But like any van it has an ordinary diesel engine for road driving, a dashboard on which to display tabloid smut, and room for three topless blokes in the cabin.

In fact, the only giveaways are the giant inflatable pontoons and frumpy skirt, sewn by our resident seamstress James May.

What's the verdict?

Yet another amphibious accomplishment from the TG Technology Centre, and the most effective way to surprise moorhens since Hammond’s leaky Dampervan
