Buying
What should I be paying?
As we’ve already covered, the Ignis is not going to cost much to run, or to buy. At the moment there are only two versions to choose from SZ-T (£16,249) and SZ5 (£17,249), with the all-wheel drive only applicable to the SZ5 for a grand. And the auto option is also £1,000, so that’s nice and simple. They all get the same engine and hybrid tech, with the base car getting 16-inch alloys, roof rails, side mouldings and chunky wheelarches, LED lights and bluetooth, plus the four individual seats and sliding rears and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
The bigger-spec car adds ‘Dual camera brake support’, less basic air-con and stuff like Keyless entry and start. You can also add various packs, but again they won’t break the bank. The £629 Colour Pack, for example, adds some funky red decals, the Adventure Pack is a set of boot liners, there’s a little rear spoiler for £420, and you can have stuff like a tow bar. For really small trailers.
It’s hilariously fuel efficient, and if you’re not cracking 50mpg, you’re driving it like a hooligan.
The standard warranty is a three-year, 60,000 mile package, and Suzuki is offering competitive service packages to heap on the peace of mind, plus two years’ free servicing. It feels solidly put together and tough. On a PCP from Suzuki, you’re looking at three grand down and 49 months of just over £200, with a £6,754 balloon payment at the end. Hire purchase is more like £265 a month over 60 months, but there are better finance deals out there if you’re willing to shop around.
